Rivian R1S
The all-wheel drive Rivian R1S is available in three trims: Adventure, Premium which has been discontinued, and Ascend. Power is provided by 2, 3, or 4 electric motors with horsepower between 600 and 835. The Rivian R1S has a range of 260 to 316 miles depending on the battery pack and motor combination. Performance is key with the R1S boasting a 0-60 mph as quick as 3 seconds and a towing capacity of up to 7,700 lbs.
The R1S has eight different drive modes that allow the driver to tailor the ride to their personal driving preferences and different road conditions. The R1S is made from aluminum alloy, ultra-high-strength steel and carbon fiber while the low center of gravity helps prevent rollovers. Rivian also claims that the R1T is capable of driving through 3+ feet of water.
The second row of seats fold 60/40 with the third row splitting 50/50. With room for seven passengers and seats that fold flat the R1S boasts over 104 cu ft or storage space. The R1S can automatically adjust to a lower height when parked, as low as 8.8 inches off the ground, helping to load in little ones, groceries, or gear.
Notable standard features also include 22-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlamps and daytime running lamps, a panoramic glass roof, a power liftgate, heated and ventilated front seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, three 120V power outlets, 9 USB ports, wireless LTE and Wi-Fi connectivity with Alexa voice commands. The Ascend trim adds various blacked-out pieces.
The premium trim gave owners access to the tri-motor and quad-motor drivetrains but was discontinued, and the Ascend is now available with an exclusive tri-motor configuration.
Safety is paramount with standard equipment that includes 11 cameras, 5 radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 360 degrees of vision, front, rear and side parking sensors, active lane departure, blind spot warning, front collision mitigation, a rear collision warning system, front cross traffic mitigation and an active driver attention monitor.
